Periodical Cicadas

I went out to get the paper this morning and rescued this generation x Cicada in my driveway from the fangs of a hungry Robin. They started emerging two weeks ago. We don't have many at our house since it's fairly new build. However , you'll find millions of them near wooded areas and in older neighborhoods.

The sound they make is unbelievable loud. I compare it to a broken AC on top of one of those high rise appartment buildings in NYC.
